Due to the threat the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) poses to the Village's ash tree population (est.300), the Village of Riverside using Geographic Information System (GIS) has identified and mapped ash tree locations on public land. By following the Public Ash Tree Inventor Map for a detailed map featuring all ash trees in the parks and highlighting those properties with ash trees on public parkway. Please note this map does not depict ash trees located on private property.
Under the direction of the Village Forester, the Village is proactively removing ash trees showing signs of distress or posing a public safety hazard. This measure is to cull the current ash population and decrease the impact EAB will have on the Village's future tree canopy. To learn more about EAB and the symptoms of ash trees infested by the insect, read the Emerald Ash Borer page.
