Parking in Riverside

Parking in the Village is very limited. No parking is allowed on any street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.  Also, due to the narrow streets, parking is allowed only on one side of most streets. Overnight parking is available in the parking lot west of the train station. The blue numbered spots are metered spots with the Parking meter located on the train platform. In special instances, such as driveway refinishing or non-operating vehicles, the Police will try to accommodate your special circumstances.  Other parking restrictions vary by area, see the Village Code for details or call the Police Department

Riverside requires all vehicles that are housed or registered to a Riverside address have a current vehicle sticker displayed in the front windshield. Vehicle stickers can be purchased at the Village office.  Renewal notices are sent out in late May of each year and the new sticker must be displayed by July 1. Be sure that you have the current sticker. View more information about vehicle stickers.

Commuter Lots

Lot 1

Some spaces are paid by the hour/day and some are sold as quarterly permits. The spaces with blue number signs are metered, and the meter machine is located on the west end of the train station platform. Payment can be made with coins, bills (up to $20), and with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express).

In addition customers may pay with an app or over the internet by visiting the PassportParking website or using their app. The zone to use when paying with the application or on the web is 60546. The parking rental rate is 25 cents per hour block of time and customers may pay for up to 24 hours at a time. These spaces are free on weekends and holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day).

Train Station Construction Parking

The Train Station Roof Replacement Project is currently underway. Parking is limited and commuters should park anywhere they can find a legal parking spot.

Lot 8

These spaces are for daily commuters (6 a.m. - 9 p.m.) by quarterly permit only, which cost $130 per quarter. These spaces are free on weekends and holidays.

Waiting Lists

Generally, there is a short waiting list (3-6 months) for spaces in lot 1, and a longer waiting list (2-3 years) for spaces in lot 8. Please email the Village to be placed on the waiting list. You will be called as soon as something becomes available.

When using a village lot, please be aware of your surroundings. If you see or hear anything suspicious, call the police. We would rather respond to a false alarm than to not be called when needed.

There are many apartments and condos near the Central Business District with no designated overnight parking. To these residents, the Village offers parking by quarterly permit only. The cost is $175 per quarter.
