Restore the Canopy - Plant a Tree

The MWRD is offering free trees to residents of Cook County regardless of whether they are in the MWRD’s service area. The program is called, Restore the Canopy Plant A Tree.  Every Wednesday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, people can pick up a Bur Oak, Pin Oak and/or Swamp White Oak at any of the MWRD’s six water reclamation plants (Calumet in Chicago, Egan in Schaumburg, Hanover Park, Kirie in Des Plaines, O’Brien in Skokie or Stickney). The trees are available either bare-rooted or potted.

Additional details of the program can be found on the MWRD’s website or by calling the MWRD’s Public Affairs Office at 312-751-6633.
