Riverside will commemorate Memorial Day with an event on Sunday, May 26 and two events on Monday, May 27.
River Lanterns at Dusk
To honor service members, and commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion, family members of current and past service members, along with the Riverside community, are invited to light biodegradable lanterns and place them into the Des Plaines River at Swan Pond at dusk. The lanterns will float downstream where they will be retrieved by volunteers. This event will be held on Sunday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. weather permitting.
