About the Commission

 
The Commissioners are charged with the responsibility of conducting the hiring process and certifying the eligibility of patrol officers, sergeants and lieutenants. They are also charged with conducting any disciplinary hearings. As with all Boards and Commissions, Fire and Police Commissioners serve without compensation.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE:  On August 10, 2021, the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Riverside, Cook County, Illinois, adopted amendments to Chapter III, “Examinations – Original Appointments” of their Rules and Regulations, which amendments generally pertain to Lateral Appointment of Sworn Police Officer Candidates. Details of the amendments are available in the link that follows and copies are available at the Village of Riverside office, 27 Riverside Road, Riverside, IL. The amendments will be effective August 29, 2021 and thereafter.
