Walking Tour of Riverside - North Division Tour

Seasonal Walking Tours of the National Historic Landmark Village of Riverside return in 2021.  Riverside has become a destination for visitors from around the world due to Frederick Law Olmsted’s unique design, its rich history, and famous architecture.

Dates for 2021 seasonal Walking Tours will be:
May 30 (North Division Tour)
June 27 (South Division Tour)
July 25 (North Division Tour)
August 29 (South Division Tour)
September 19 (North Division Tour)
October 24 (South Division Tour)

North Division tours cover the area north of the BNSF railroad tracks and feature the Longcommon (key to Olmsted’s plan), an architecturally significant school, a place of worship designed by Jenney, and homes by Silsbee, Wright, Perkins and Purcell & Elmslie.

South Division tours include Swan Pond Park, Indian Gardens, Scottswood Common, Wright’s Coonley Estate, and homes by Jenney, Drummond, Vinci, Whittlesey, and a home designed by Olmsted’s partner, Calvert Vaux.

Tours are $20 per person ($15 for seniors 62+ and Olmsted Society members). Tours depart at from the Riverside Train Depot (main train station, east platform) 90 Bloomingbank Road. Tours last approximately two hours.

In keeping with CDC Guidelines, face masks are required and participation is limited to eight people. Reservations are required.
