Sgt. John Cairo Graduates from Command School.

Sergeant John Cairo recently graduated from Northwestern University Center of Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command

The 10 week Staff and Command school holds several sessions annually and is designed to prepare top and mid-level law enforcement managers and supervisors for senior agency positions.

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936 for the purpose of expanding the scope of university level education and training in traffic safety.  Since then, the institute has broadened its original objective to include training in police operations and management.

The program covers four broad areas of study: management and its environment, organizational theory and behavior, human resource administration, and skills for planning and analysis.

More than 12,000 officers from state, county, and municipal agencies have taken advantage of this program since its first session in 1983.

Sergeant Cairo attended the 433rd class hosted by the North East Multi Regional Training Board and held on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  A graduation ceremony and luncheon was held at the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Illinois on Friday, May 18, 2018.  Chief Tom Weitzel, Deputy Chief Bill Gutschick and Lt. Frank Lara attended the graduation ceremony.

Congratulations to Sergeant John Cairo on this significant accomplishment!
