At the Riverside Police Department, our mission is to provide a safe and secure environment while respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals. The safety and well-being of our residents, business community and visitors is always our primary concern.

We have implemented new crime prevention programs and are embarking on new technology, including security cameras, improved communication systems, focused street patrol, and high visibility foot patrol to better respond to the needs of our community. The Riverside Police Department also offers a wide variety of crime prevention programs and support services.

Even with all of these safety measures in place, a truly safe community can only be achieved through the cooperation of residents.

Each member of our department staff is committed to working with all residents with the goal of becoming better partners in the reduction of crime.

Chief Tom Weitzel stated, “Our Department takes great pride in being a community-orientated police department. We recognize that maintaining a safe community is only possible because of a strong and valued relationship between our department and the citizens of Riverside. Because of citizen cooperation and involvement, the Riverside Police Department is able to more effectively protect and serve the people who live, work, and visit our community”.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Chief Weitzel at tweitzel@riverside.il.us
