Each year, 7-Eleven, Inc. helps thousands of local police officers recognize the good guys, specifically the young ones. For the 23srdyear, 7-Eleven is partnering with law enforcement agencies across the country to distribute free Slurpee drink coupons through Operation Chill, its popular community-service program.
Riverside Police officers use the Slurpee coupons to enhance interactions with children in the village by rewarding them for good deeds, positive interactions and wearing of bicycle helmets while riding bikes. The coupons are great for officers patrolling the community. It is an icebreaker, a way to encourage dialogue in non-threatening, non-law enforcement situations.
“The Riverside Police Department has been participating in Operation Chill for the last 13 years and I think our officers are almost as excited to give out the Slurpee coupons as the kids are to receive them,” said Sgt. John Cairo.
Riverside Police officers will be on the lookout all summer to positively reward and encourage good behavior and safe bicycle operation by local kids.
