[ARCHIVED] RPD-Railroad Contact Information (Problem or Dangerous Situation)

Railroad Crossing Lights

How can I contact the railroad in the case of a potential problem or dangerous situation on the railroad tracks?

If you witness a problem on railroad tracks that could be potentially dangerous the next time a train passes (such as a disabled vehicle or non-functioning signals/gates), look for a sign in close proximity to the crossing near the tracks, which is now posted at every railroad crossing in the U.S. The standard-looking signs have a blue background and list the telephone number for the railroad that operates over the crossing, along with the US DOT number (six numbers and a letter) for that specific crossing. That DOT# identifies the crossing’s address. You dial the number on the sign and reference this number if you needed to notify the railroad of an dangerous situation or concern.

Call 9-1-1 for emergency situations-
