Riverside Police and District 96 School staff partnered for safety intruder drills on Friday, January 17, 2020.
As part of ongoing emergency action plan, the drills are designed for “prevention, preparedness, response and recovery from an intruder incident.”
At no time were any students or staff in immediate danger.
Chief Tom Weitzel stated, "I was pleased with the involvement of our officers and the way Hauser Junior High and Blythe Park School staff implemented the crisis management plan. The safety of the students, teachers, and our officers are of paramount importance. Overall, the drills went very well.”
“In the drills, we had police officers observe as school personnel conducted an intruder exercise and checked rooms for proper procedures,” said Sgt. Frank Pontrelli.
District 96 is continuing to work closely with Riverside Police Department on all issues related to the safety of students and staff.
