Woodside Road Cross Walk Signal Modifications and Relocation
The Village of Riverside is pleased to announce cross walk signal modifications, ADA sidewalk ramp improvements, and a cross walk relocation on Woodside Road in the vicinity of Central Elementary and Hauser Junior High Schools beginning the week of March 27th. See the map here.
Scope of Work
The mid-block cross walk leading to the entrance of Central Elementary School will be reconfigured slightly to the north. This will move pedestrians out of the driveway at 54 Woodside Road and into a new ADA accessible ramp in the parkway. Additionally, the existing antiquated signals and signal equipment will be replaced with up to date signals, signal equipment, and electrical service and will be reinstalled at new locations corresponding with the new crosswalk location.
The intersection of Woodside Road with Park Place and Kimbark Road will also see modifications that include constructing new sidewalk ramps that are ADA compliant as well as replacing the six (6) existing pedestrian traffic signals with countdown type pedestrian signals and new push buttons and push button signs. New sidewalk will be also be installed. This will ensure all pedestrian push buttons are accessible. Lastly, the existing incandescent vehicular traffic signal heads will be replaced with LED traffic signal heads to improve visibility of the traffic signal heads and reduce overall energy consumption.
Construction Schedule
Work will be completed between March 27th and April 1st. Parking will be restricted (as posted) and the crosswalks will be closed during this time. Work is anticipated to be completed prior to school re-opening on April 3rd. Please use caution when driving through the area.
