[ARCHIVED] Des Plaines River Level Update

Des Plaines River Swan Pond

The Village has been monitoring the river closely all weekend.  As the rains continue to the north and with the ground being completely saturated, the Des Plaines River is forecast to rise near major Flood Stage Level over the next 24 hours. The current height of the river is 8.11 feet and National Weather Service is projecting that it will crest at 8.9 ft tomorrow at 6 PM. The Fire Department is prepared to make notifications of those living in flood prone areas, should residents need to be relocate their vehicles to designated parking areas or personal property to higher ground. At 8.9 ft, the Village will still be at the moderate flood stage level, at 9 ft the Village moves to major flood stage. At major flood stage, certain structures may start to experience flooding.  The Village will continue to monitor river levels over the next few days until the river levels begin to recede.
