IDOT is scheduled to begin a bridge deck reconstruction project on the 31st Street bridge over the Des Plaines River in Riverside and North Riverside on April 19, 2021. Traffic patterns will be shifted and reduced to one lane in each direction to accomplish work on the bridge. Expect delays when traveling in the area or choose an alternate route for the duration of the project if possible.
The estimated completion date for the project is July 2, 2021.
After speaking to D Construction Contractor, Chris Piazza, and IDOT Resident Engineer, Christian Iroume, this morning, I was able to get some schedule updates. The bridge deck overlay and joint repair project on 31st over the Des Plaines River is anticipated to start on 5/3 with an estimated completion of Mid July. The Desplaines resurfacing project from 31st St to 26th St is anticipated to start on Monday, 4/19. The resurfacing project is estimated to be completed in early July.
Christian and I discussed the scope of project and traffic control and at the moment don’t foresee any future conflicts. We will both continue to coordinate to avoid any future conflicts.
