Behind on Housing Costs due to COVID-19? The Illinois Housing Authority may be able to help.

In order to be eligible for emergency mortgage assistance provided by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the homeowner must:

  • Have experienced a COVID-19- related hardship after January 21, 2020.
  • Be delinquent on mortgage and/or property taxes.
  • Currently own and occupy the property as their primary residence.
  • Have an income at or below 150% of the Area Median Income.

You may also attend or watch an online information session about the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) program at Applications will become available in April 2022.
