Some residents may have received a notice from ComEd, “Confirmation of Change in Electric Supplier,” indicating your account is being moved from our current aggregation program supplier MC Squared Energy Services (MC2) to ComEd. You need take no action.
Please note: whether your account receives supply service from MC2 or from ComEd, your account is a part of the Riverside Green Electric Aggregation community. All ratepayers, whether served by MC2 or ComEd, will have 100% of their historical consumption offset by Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), thus contributing to the Village’s current status as an EPA Green Power Community, where it is currently ranked #3 in the USA by the EPA in terms of percentage green power consumed versus total power consumed!
Background: Approximately once annually, MC2 rebalances the Village's electric load that they serve. Why? Because consumption patterns vary widely, the cost to serve ratepayers varies widely. Some lower-cost accounts may be enrolled with MC2 while those deemed higher-cost may be moved to ComEd. Thus, MC2 may send notices to a few ratepayers that their supply has been moved back to ComEd as usage patterns change.
Most important, whether served by MC2 or ComEd, ratepayers pay exactly the same supply rate, which is broken into three components on your ComEd invoice: Supply, Transmission and PEA. Thus, all resident and small business accounts are treated equally in terms of price and Renewable Energy offsets.
If you have recently received a notice from ComEd, you should have received an earlier notice from the Village that your account is being moved and informing you of the rebalancing process.
