The Landscape Advisory Commission (LAC) is encouraging residents to educate themselves on the benefits of pollinators and pollinating plants and how mowing less benefits the environment. LAC recommends the website Beecityusa.org. The site includes links to lists of pollinating plants and pollinators, studies showing the benefits of No Mow May, and other great information.
If you have decided to participate in Riverside's No Mow May, and would like to educate your neighbors on why you are allowing your grass to grow, please contact the Landscape Advisory Commission (LAC) at lac@riverside.il.us to request a free yard sign. Please include your name and address. Once your request has been approved by the LAC, you will be able to pick up your yard sign at the Riverside Village Hall front desk anytime Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm. As a reminder, beginning May 15th, you will once again be required to mow your lawn to remain compliant with the Village's mowing ordinance. If you do not foresee using your yard sign next year and would like to dispose of it, please drop off at the Riverside Public Works Department for reuse.
