Jesus Pineda participates in fundraising climb. The "Fight for Air Climb" is an event that takes place at the Presidential Towers in downtown Chicago; I've done the fundraiser three years in a row now. The purpose of the Climb is to raise awareness and help fund the research of lung cancer and lung disease such as asthma, and COPD through the American Lung Association. There's a minimum fundraising requirement of $100 per person in order to participate in the event which is held every March 6th. During the event participants can choose 1, 2, 3, or all 4 Presidential Towers.
Climbing all 4 towers would be a total of 180 floors roughly 2700 steps total. It is very challenging, however it is really rewarding feeling like you made a difference especially because many of the people who participate actually suffer from lung disease or have family who does. This year was my first year participating in the "First Responder" portion of the event and that was thanks to you Chiefs for allowing me to take my gear. There are many Fire departments who participate in this event and Police Departments as well. Registration usually takes place in October.
